This actually occured in the later part of August...by happenstance it took place at the capitol in Austin...you can ask Matthew about it some time. Unfortunately something was wiggy with the camera...but the moment was still captured!
So on September 15, 2007 our little girl turned 16... and as afore mentioned it was a really busy crazy day, but everything went off as planned...YAY!!! As her brother before her who was "stringed" at his 16th she had to endure this family tradition...needless to say she was not too happy with us...you know we messed up her hair!!! :-) But she got over it...
So besides cheering for her high school Caitlin also performs with a stunt cheer team...they compete about once a month and perform locally at basketball games, summer festivals, etc. In April their season will culminate at Nationals in Chicago...The county fair was their first performance of the season. (In the top photo she is front and center on one knee...in the bottom photo she is the furthest to the right basing...can you see how high they throw their flyer...? Imagine practicing that a bunch...Caitlin's getting quite the toned body! :-)
Every year during our county fair there is a cheer competition. This year 7 schools participated...there are two schools (Bryan & Edgerton) that always vie for 1st place... (Bryan took it this year). Caitlin's School (Hilltop) took 3rd....they were ecstactic!!! The seniors cried.
The cheer-off was on her birthday and her party was that night...what a busy day!!!!! Matt & Lisa had just flown in the day before (into Detroit). This meant Bubby could see her cheer! YAY! And not once, but twice. Her stunt cheer team performed exhibition that day, as well.
We love to camp...currently we don't get to go as often as we would like, but it's become tradition to go every Memorial Day Weekend & Labor Day Weekend. We go with Steve's oldest brother Mike's family to Pokagon State Park in Indiana. This past trip was glorious...the weather was fantastic...mostly in the 70's and no rain!!! It rained most of the time Memorial Day Weekend so we were due for the good stuff... :-)
This year Caitlin not only marches in the band at football games...she's also a JV Cheerleader. We were rained out our 1st & 3rd games...fun, fun, fun. Because of course they don't call it right away...we all have to get good and wet first, and then add some mosquitoes... oh,the stuff memories are made of...it's been a bummer that Steve has had to work, but I keep him updated on the score and so forth by text messaging him. Since my health has been better I've really enjoyed the games...there really is nothing like a Friday night game in a small town in midwest USA...it's very all-american!
So you have to pretend that this is an August post...life has been so busy that this is the first chance I've had to post anything! I took these pics before Labor Day Weekend. The band she marches in is so cool...they are very small, but they have a very big sound!!! They learn 3 separate shows...different music and choreography for each! And all music is memorized...this really is amazing...
